Anabas is currently seeking to employ an experienced Management Accountant to join a vibrant and friendly working environment within a business that inspires the growth and development of their dynamic team of employees.
This is a permanent full-time role based in the Morton park area of Darlington with onsite parking available, working Monday to Friday (40 hours per week) at an annual salary of between £40,000 and £45,000 depending on experience.
In order to be successful in this role you will be a keen problem solver with the drive to see a task through to completion. You will ideally have at least 3 years post qualification experience with prior line management experience. You will have excellent attention to detail, the ability to work quickly and accurately and will be able to build relationships with suppliers and operational staff.

You will be a strong Excel user with fluency in pivot tables, vlookups, sumifs, and an understanding of VBA and macros useful but not essential. You will be qualified in management accounting e.g. CIMA or ACCA and will have the ability to travel to London on an ad-hoc basis as required.
A key part of the Finance team, the Management Accountant will be heavily involved in the month-end process, creating journals, producing key schedules for the contract reviews, reviewing monthly results to budget and investigating differences, as well as reporting to the rest of the Business on your findings.
This role will be required to support the rest of the team throughout the month in order to get everything ready for month-end ledger closes, as well as any other ad-hoc duties as required by their line manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Financial Analysis and Reporting on Contract Performance and Variance Analysis:
o Help and support the Financial Controller in the production of the monthly management accounts from start to finish, including contract P&Ls, overheads and balance sheet, with variance analysis, including identifying and tracking opportunities and risks within the P&L.
o Help and support the Financial Controller in the production and distribution of the contract reporting dashboards for all contracts, and review on a monthly basis with relevant contract managers.
o Being a main point of contact for a number of contract P&L's, liaising with operations throughout the month to ensure firm understanding, pushing to obtain correct and timely information, and providing in-depth analysis to account management.
o Liaising with and building good relationships with the Mobilisation team to ensure smooth handover of New Wins to the Finance Departments.
o Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
o Lead contract performance analysis on designated contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategic financial plans.
* Budgeting and Forecasting:
o Help and support the Financial Controller in the creation and delivery of the:
+ Cash Flow
+ Annual Budget process
+ Monthly Reforecasts
o Liaising with and building good relationships with the Bid teams to ensure information is up to date and reflected in all new bids.
o Assist with new contract bids, including black hat discussions and PQQ/tender documents, as well as building or reviewing cost models.
* Compliance and Auditing:
o Help and support the Financial Controller with:
+ the Quarterly VAT return
+ the completion of National Statistic returns
+ PAYE Settlement submissions.
o Contribute to the collation of Year-end audit information and be available and competent to answer audit queries throughout the process.
o Monitor Financial transactions to ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and Business policies.
* Systems:
o Be an active and competent user of Financial systems, offering help to other teams when necessary, including but not limited to:
+ Sage
+ PO system
+ Credit Card
+ Time and Attendance Systems.
* Other:
o Fulfil ad hoc requests for financial analysis and data on customer accounts and ensure all liabilities are identified and remedied utilising appropriate methods and communication.
o Act as finance main point of contact for contract managers, ensuring key stakeholder relationships are built through attendance at monthly/quarterly meetings, answering queries, providing proactive finance support and coaching.
Skills and Experience:
* Proven experience as a Management Accountant (or similar) in a similar sized business.
* Experience in financial management, contract performance, and analysis.
* Proficient at analysing financial data ensuring compliance with contractual terms and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
* Firm understanding of accounting standards and treatment.
* Proven track record of improving financial processes and providing insightful financial analysis to support decision-making processes.
* Advanced knowledge of Excel (functions, data etc.).
* An analytical mind with good math skills.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Excellent organisational skills.
* Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with an awareness of how to talk Finance to non-finance colleagues.
* Sharing best practice and sourcing innovation.
* A team player with the ability to work closely and collaboratively with colleagues with the wider Finance team and other company stakeholders.
