Job Title: Investigation Officer Pay: £28.00 Responsible to: Lead Investigation Officer Purpose of the Job: The Investigation Officer is responsible for identifying and investigating serious organised crime cases across the UK, working alongside other agencies where necessary. The role involves conducting investigations related to fraud, economic crime, and other criminal activities affecting the UK government. Key Responsibilities: Investigate serious crimes in line with relevant laws (e.g., Theft Act 1968, Fraud Act 2006). Prepare applications for search warrants and attend court to support cases. Conduct interviews with suspects and witnesses in line with legal requirements (e.g., PACE). Prepare prosecution files and evidence, ensuring compliance with CPS standards. Participate in covert surveillance and other investigatory activities if trained. Work with other agencies in joint operations, managing evidence and assisting in arrests. Maintain high ethical standards, ensuring all work aligns with operational manuals and policies. Person Specification: Essential Skills and Knowledge: Nationally recognised law enforcement qualifications (e.g., Accredited Counter Fraud Specialist). Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Fraud Act 2006, Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, and PACE. Experience in fraud and economic crime investigations, including gathering evidence for prosecution. Advanced experience in interviewing suspects and preparing case files for court. Ability to work under pressure, manage a caseload, and meet deadlines. Must be able to obtain national security clearance and commit to agile working (flexible hours and locations). Desirable Skills: Experience with covert surveillance and relevant legislation (e.g., Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act). Police driving qualifications or surveillance accreditation.
