The Oncology Pharmacy service provides a range of systemic anti-cancer therapies to both adult and paediatric inpatients and outpatients. We have a friendly team of registered pharmacy technicians, pharmacists and support workers who work alongside a dedicated team of QA staff and training technicians.
This is an exciting role, which has recently been developed to offer non-registered individuals, who are interested in aseptics, an opportunity to build their knowledge and experience through on the job training and attendance on external courses.
Your Responsibilities
What you’ll do
You will be required to work in our brand-new aseptic suite assisting with the preparation of aseptically prepared products and working towards achieving your PIPC (pre and in-process checking) qualification, which on completion will enable you to perform quality checks on manufactured products in the unit. You will be expected to support our team of pharmacy technicians to help co-ordinate staff to ensure efficient workflow, organise and prioritise treatments to prevent patient delays and to ensure that all processes are followed as per our standard operating procedures.
In addition to this, you will be enrolled onto a 24-month training program to develop your aseptic skills, which on completion will lead to registration with ‘The Science Council’ as a ‘Science Manufacturing Technician.’

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who displays positivity and leadership within a team. You must be professional and act as a good role model, whilst exhibiting a supportive nature to your peers. You need to be accurate in your working with a good attention to detail and have good communication skills. You will be expected to integrate and make a positive contribution to the team who lead the pharmacy service to cancer care.
The core hours of our service are Monday to Friday 8.30 to 17.00 and Saturdays 9.00 to 13.00; however, our department is moving towards 7 day working and all staff are required to contribute to extended hours, weekends and Bank Holidays. On completion of your PIPC qualification you will also be expected to contribute towards our oncall rota.
Future service development may require cross or off site working
