Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
The Associate Manager, R&D Electrical Engineer supports the New Building Technical Director in developing maritime technologies for MSC Cruises. As an electrical expert, you will collaborate on technical specifications, plan approvals for new vessels, and become a recognized expert in marine engineering for developing new solutions.
You will stay informed about advancements in marine engineering and how to implement them on MSC vessels, including new technologies for projects and retrofits.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
* Conduct market research to evaluate product viability and market performance.
* Assist R&D activities through stakeholder meetings and visits.
* Stay updated on marine engineering practices and vessel performance feedback.
* Contribute to the design, system development, and evaluation of equipment specifications, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
* Monitor manufacturer products and fleet equipment performance.
* Collaborate with the New Building Technical Director to update vessel specifications and maintain accurate records.
* Review specifications, drawings, and technical submissions; participate in FATs and shipyard inspections.
* Support warranty claim investigations with the Guarantee Engineer.
* Maintain communication with shipyards, classification societies, regulatory bodies, and equipment manufacturers.
* Assist in developing inspection and testing procedures for equipment and systems.
Qualifications & Skills
* Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience, especially in Power Plant Design.
* Ability to analyze technical information and make recommendations.
* Proficiency in research, design planning, and technical report writing.
* Effective presentation of technical and commercial arguments.
* Understanding of naval architectural principles and practical application.
* Strong computer skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
* Preferred experience with ABB/GE Marine High Voltage Equipment.
* Knowledge of high voltage safety standards.
* Familiarity with electrical standards (IEC, IEEE, API, IMO MODU, SOLAS, BV, RINA).
VISA REQUIREMENTS
Existing right to work in the UK is preferred.
