The team is responsible for the SSN AUKUS Nuclear Steam Raising Plant which will power the successor to the Astute Class Submarines. You could be part of one of the largest engineering projects in the country and provide a significant contribution to the UK’s defence and national security. The Whole Plant Team are responsible for defining the engineering strategy, integration of programmes of work and engineering solution and technical governance. The SSN AUKUS programme is setting out to deliver Submarines on a scale never seen before in the UK. What you will be doing: The Group Lead for SSNA Fluid Systems will have accountability for leading a team of systems engineers responsible designing and substantiating the major primary systems within Nuclear Steam Raising Plant (NSRP). The team is also responsible for defining and substantiating how that plant is operated. The Group Lead will report to the SSNA Assistance Chief Engineer and will undertake the following activities. Day to day leadership of the SSNA fluid systems team. Define the technical strategy for the fluid systems scope of work which meets the SSNA engineering and programme outcomes. Ensure a schedule is maintained which captures the short terms resource demand, group deliverables and long term resource demand. Support resolution of technical issues and ensure outputs are delivered to the required time cost and quality. Provide technical coaching and enable the development of the team to ensure the fluid systems capability is maintained. Management of teams performance against the yearly programme essential outcomes, key enablers and Rolls-Royce group behaviours. Build relationships within RRSL and the Submarines Enterprise Partners to enable efficient delivery of the SSN AUKUS programme. To be successful in this role you will need to meet the following criteria: Experience of Leading teams working on complex engineering programmes. Strong planning and organising skills to manage short, medium and long term activities and deliverables An experienced engineer, ideally within nuclear, or within a heavily regulated industry. Experience of design, justification and safety case production of complex engineering systems. A good understanding of fundamental engineering principles and able to make rational risk-based decisions using analysis, empirical data and engineering judgement and experience.
