Civil Engineering Technician
CPL have partnered with Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS) to recruit for a Civil Engineering Technician (TG1 Grade) to join their team on a temporary contract, with possibility of extension.
Pay Rate: £12.59 per/hr
Location: DfI, Roads - Mid and East Antrim Section Office/Carrickfergus
Benefits: 37 days holiday per annum
Hours: 37 hours per week
Responsibilities will include:
1. Ensuring that public roads and footways are inspected to schedule and to identify defects for repair in accordance with Road Maintenance Standards for Safety and to provide a statutory defence in public liability claims.
2. Dealing with public complaints within a reasonable timescale.
3. Permit Inspections.
4. Possible court appearances on behalf of the Department.
Essential Experience/Qualifications:
1. BTEC in Civil Engineering or equivalent. If no BTEC then minimum qualifications for PTO Apprentice apply. Minimum qualifications – 5 GCSE’s. Grade B in maths, Grade C in English Language, Grade C in a Civil Engineering Science and two other GCSEs at grade C or above.
2. A full current driving licence enabling the licence holder to drive vehicles in Northern Ireland.
Desired Experience/Qualifications:
General experience of road maintenance and building / civil engineering construction.
Relevant or Equivalent Qualifications:
Applications will also be considered from applicants with relevant formal qualifications considered to be of an equivalent or higher standard to those stated. Relevant or equivalent qualifications: give the type of qualification and date awarded (the date awarded is the date on which you were notified of your result by the official awarding body). If you believe your qualification is equivalent to the one required, the onus is on you to provide the panel with details of modules studied etc so that a well-informed decision can be made.
