We're looking for a highly motivated Finance Apprentice to support the effective running of the Finance department in delivering its key core duties covering sales and purchase ledger, financial control, administration, and financial management.
This role will cover 37.5 hours per week (including 20% off-job learning). As part of this apprenticeship, we can offer you a permanent role with Cumbria Health, whilst also being supported to complete the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification.

Main duties of the job
As knowledge and confidence develop, you will act as a key and proactive member of the Finance Team to enable capacity to be flexed to meet the peaks in workload across the department.
Job responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities, which follows, represents the broad range of tasks which may be required to be undertaken either routinely or periodically. This list is not exhaustive and the role may include additional duties which are not listed here:
1. Assisting the Finance Officer with purchase ledger entries, including day to day completion of purchase ledger tasks, including the coding and processing of supplier invoices.
2. Reviewing the purchase ledger for accurate payment allocations to ensure all supplier accounts are correct and up to date.
3. Assisting the Finance Officer with the raising of sales invoices.
4. Reviewing the sales ledger for accurate receipt allocations to ensure the customer accounts are correct and up to date.
5. Assist with the completion of account reconciliations and maintenance of the nominal ledger to assist with accurate reporting.
6. Assisting the Management Accountant and Head of Finance by posting journals and learning how to produce monthly management accounts.
7. Analysing monthly figures to provide information to budget holders.
8. Assisting with the bank reconciliations and petty cash transactions.
9. General support to the Finance team as required with day to day tasks.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* 5 GCSEs with a minimum grade 4 (or equivalent) including Maths and English.
Experience
* Excellent Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook skills.
* Ability to input and retrieve data accurately on a computerised system.
* Ability to communicate well with a wide range of stakeholders, across multiple communication channels (written and verbal).
* Ability to prioritise and manage own workload.
* Strong administrative and organisational skills.
* Ability to carry out work accurately to specified deadlines and on own initiative.
* Experience of working within the NHS.
* Experience of working in an office environment.
* Experience of working in Finance.
