Full time: Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 4:30
This role involves working with children aged 4-19 years old, focusing on Nursery to KS1 level cognitive ability. If you have a caring nature and want to be part of a vibrant, empathetic team and school, this role could really appeal to you.
We are looking for a graduate or non-graduate with good instincts for Nursery and early years aged children. This role involves personal care with students who are lively and come from different backgrounds and cultures. An interest in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy is an advantage but not essential.
This position is in a specialist Autistic school for children aged 7-19, catering to a range of Autism, Complex Social Needs, and varying academic abilities. The role involves supporting children whose Autism leads to severe learning challenges, with some also having physical disabilities.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Enhancing the students' lives and demonstrating the value of education.
2. Ensuring the safety of the children.
3. Participating in SEN and safeguarding training, including MAPA training.
4. Engaging in physical work and making academic progress according to each child's context.
5. Implementing therapies and holistic processes, recognizing that any progress is a success.
6. Focusing on early years and non-verbal students, using holistic techniques to gain engagement.
7. Providing positive engagement and a sense of acceptance for the children.
It is vital that you are sincere about your objectives and understand why you want to work in the SEN and mental health sector, providing the best possible foundations for vulnerable students who have experienced trauma. These roles are challenging and require time to build trust and foundations with vulnerable students and young learners.
