Your future role
The main purpose of this position is to fit our generic ETCS Onboard Automatic Train Protection System (ATP) into a specific vehicle (train) type. The successful candidate will be required to work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that engineering design and deliverables are achieved in alignment with project needs and technical standards.
Main responsibilities include:
1. Undertaking the role of Onboard Application Engineer across several ETCS onboard projects.
2. Being responsible for the project design and application engineering activities.
3. Managing the project solution, including the customization and specific configuration of the generic solution to meet Quality, Cost, Delivery and Performance (QCDP) commitments.
4. Deploying the applicable engineering process, methods & tools on the project.
5. Producing electrical schematics/drawings/parts lists, manufacturing instructions/checklists, and different manuals needed for production and installation for operators and maintenance.
6. Collaborating with cross-function teams to support the safety case activities.
7. Participating in safety approval of the vehicle adaptation.
8. Supporting defect root cause analysis to support reliability growth.
9. Supporting any signalling onboard bid work.
10. Contributing to the growth of ETCS expertise across the team.

1. Graduated in either electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
2. Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
3. Prior railway signalling domain knowledge.
4. Experience of ERTMS or other safety-critical systems is desirable.
5. MS Office knowledge is mandatory, including VISIO.
6. Knowledge of DOORS and requirements management.
7. Proactive team member with strong problem-solving ability.
8. Positive attitude and a growth mindset.
9. Chartered Engineer (or working towards) an appropriate professional institution (IRSE, IET or equivalent).
