The Opportunity We are recruiting on behalf of a London-based Local Authority seeking an experienced and detail-oriented HR Support Officer. This key role supports the HR and Corporate Strategy by delivering high-quality transactional HR, payroll, and recruitment services, while ensuring compliance and efficiency across all aspects of the employee lifecycle. This is a hybrid position, offering the flexibility to work remotely with 1–2 days in the office each week. The initial contract is for 3 months, with the potential for extension. Key Responsibilities Recruitment Administration: Coordinate recruitment campaigns, manage candidate communication, ensure compliance with DBS and right-to-work checks, and issue offer letters and contracts. Onboarding: Oversee onboarding processes, including delivering day-one inductions and ensuring all documentation is accurate and timely. Payroll Support: Prepare and submit payroll instructions (e.g., maternity/paternity leave, salary sacrifice, jury service) with a focus on accuracy and adherence to deadlines. HR Systems Maintenance: Ensure HR systems reflect accurate and up-to-date staff data, including changes to terms and conditions. Data Compliance: Maintain robust employee records in line with data protection legislation. HR Projects: Deliver cyclical projects such as DBS renewals, Declaration of Interest checks, and time-limited permissions to work. Query Management: Respond to employee, manager, and candidate queries efficiently via the HR inbox, providing timely and accurate information. Employee Engagement: Support the administration of employee benefits, reward programs, and engagement initiatives. Administrative Assistance: Assist HR colleagues with employee relations casework, including notetaking, preparing correspondence, and arranging meetings. The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will bring: Experience in HR administration, payroll, or recruitment processes. A customer-focused approach with the ability to handle queries efficiently and professionally. Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records. Familiarity with HR systems and a proactive attitude towards continuous service improvement. An understanding of confidentiality and compliance with data protection legislation.
