SEN Support Assistant
Location: Walsall
Duration: Full-Time, Ongoing
Salary: £95 – £105 per day
The School/Role
We are seeking a dedicated SEN Support Assistant to join our inclusive and nurturing school community in Walsall. This full-time role involves supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ensuring they have access to a tailored and supportive learning environment.
Key Duties
* Individualised Support: Provide 1:1 or small group support to students with SEN, adapting learning materials to meet their needs.
* Behaviour Management: Assist in managing and supporting positive behaviour in line with school policies.
* Learning Environment: Create a safe and stimulating learning environment that promotes students’ academic and personal development.
* Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and other staff to implement and review individualised education plans (IEPs).
* Communication: Maintain clear and consistent communication with parents and carers about student progress and needs.

Requirements
* Experience working with children with SEN
* Strong understanding of SEN strategies and interventions
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Desirable
* Relevant qualifications in SEN support
* Experience with specific SEN programmes or tools (e.g., PECS, Makaton)
* Level 1 safeguarding certificate
* Recent school-based references
* Valid Photo ID – Driving Licence or passport
* Full DBS – on the update service or willingness to obtain a new enhanced DBS
