Our Senior Pharmacy technician team support medicines optimisation across the Trust in critical care, the emergency department and inpatient wards. As a tertiary centre, our specialist wards include respiratory, cardiology, neurology, transplant, haematology, oncology, maternity and paediatrics.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Pharmacy technician to join ourWoman & Children's team, to support the division in the delivery of our Medicines Optimisation strategy with the area.
This leadership role provides the opportunity for experienced Pharmacy technicians to put their existing skills into practice, working with innovative technology and systems, whilst also continuing to build further skills to enable future career progression. You will participate in the medicines reconciliation process, supply of medication during inpatient stay, support effective & timely discharge and patient counselling. You will also support the development of rotational staff working within your area and support with quality improvement.

To improve the quality of care to patients in clinical & ward areas by means of an efficient medicines management system. This will include the use of patient’s own drugs (PODs), providing in-patient supply dispensing, near-patient discharge systems and counselling patients about their medicines
To support the Associate Chief Pharmacist – Clinical Pharmacy Services, Chief Pharmacy Technician and Principal Pharmacy Technician - Clinical Services in the delivery of the departmental medicines management strategy via provision of technical ward based pharmacy services.
To contribute to the strategic and operational planning of technical ward based services in Acute & General Medicine / Woman’s & Childrens
To provide training for all pharmacy staff on all aspects of technical medicines management, including medicines reconciliation (MR) as required and act as an ‘Educational Supervisor’ for Pharmacy technicians training within the clinical services team

As a senior member of the Clinical Pharmacy Technician Team, you will participate in the day to day management of clinical staff, responding to the needs of the organisation, facilitating and supporting patient flow throughout the hospital. The Clinical Pharmacy Technician Team also provide and deliver training, undertake clinical audit and service evaluations, contributing to service planning and development.
We provide excellent education and development opportunities including, national recognised accreditations in Medicines Reconciliation, Medicines Management and Accuracy Checking, with further Leadership training also available.
We are looking for highly motivated registered Pharmacy Technicians with excellent organisational and training skills, able to work under pressure whilst ensuring accuracy in all aspects of technical pharmacy. Please note there is one full time permanent role.
