York & Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has an ambitious programme of service modernisation and a reputation for providing high quality services. In line with our outlook, we are now inviting applications for this new post, in the Trauma & Orthopaedic team at York Teaching Hospital - we would welcome applications from those with an interest in foot and ankle as well lower limb surgery. There are 2 posts to be filled.
The post is not a recognized training post, but would be ideal for those wishing to gain further experience in the specialty as the training, supervision and clinical experience will be similar to that of the training grade doctors and tailored to the postholder’s previous level of experience.
The Specialty Registrar will work at middle grade level for the Trauma & Orthopaedic service and will focus on the delivery of core elective and acute Trauma services.
These posts are not primarily a research posts but are designed to give specialist experience in the Orthopaedic surgery prior to taking up a consultant post. The successful candidates will join three other Specialty Doctors at a similar level and 4 other Registrars from the Higher Surgical Training Programme. It is expected that key “core competencies” are achieved from the post with an educational contract to be agreed on appointment

The principle duty of this post is to provide a comprehensive clinical service to patients from and around York.
To, at all times, comply with the GMC requirements of Duties of a Doctor
To ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.
To undertake duties as defined within the job description in so far as practicable and in agreement with your clinical director.
To be responsible and managerially accountable for the reasonable and effective use of any Trust resources that you use and influence, and professionally accountable to the Medical Director.
On commencement to ensure personal attendance at the Trust’s Corporate Induction.
To participate in the Trust’s statutory and mandatory training programme
To be responsible for the clinical management of in and out patients under your care.
To comply with Trust policies and procedures where appropriate.
To ensure that all intellectual property rights of the Trust are observed.
