Main purpose of the role:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Inbound Logistics Specialist to oversee inbound air and sea freight operations for AYBL. The role will focus on ensuring the accurate and cost-effective transportation of goods from international suppliers to our UK and EU warehouses, as well as coordinating wholesale shipments to customers.
The ideal candidate will have a strong logistics background, excellent attention to detail, and a proven ability to build relationships with freight providers. This role is critical to maintaining smooth operations by managing import documents, securing competitive rates, and ensuring compliance with customs regulations.
Roles & responsibilities:
Freight Management:
* Plan and manage all inbound air and sea shipments, ensuring timely delivery and stock alignment.
* Oversee import shipments to UK and EU warehouses and coordinate wholesale shipments.
* Track and monitor inbound shipment progress, addressing delays or issues promptly.
* Determine the most cost-effective and time-efficient transport mode (air vs. sea) based on business needs.
Supplier and Freight Relationship Management:
* Build and maintain strong relationships with freight companies for competitive rates and reliable service.
* Regularly review freight company performance and negotiate contracts for the best prices.
* Serve as the primary contact for freight providers, handling queries and resolving disputes.
Documentation, Compliance, and Reporting:
* File and manage important clearance documents, ensuring accuracy and up-to-date records.
* Ensure correct declaration of import documents, complying with UK and EU customs regulations.
* Analyse shipping costs, transit times, and freight provider performance to identify cost-saving opportunities and improvements.
* Maintain accurate shipment data, freight rates, and customs information logs for reporting and auditing.
* Stay updated on changes in import/export rules and regulations.
Collaboration and Coordination:
* Collaborate with the merchandising team to prioritize shipments based on product demand and stock availability.
* Coordinate with the warehouse team for smooth receipt of goods and timely inventory updates.
* Provide regular updates to internal teams on shipment statuses, cost changes, and potential delays.
Analysis and Reporting:
* Analyse shipping costs, transit times, and freight provider performance to identify cost-saving opportunities and improvements.
* Maintain accurate shipment data, freight rates, and customs information logs for reporting and auditing.
Requirements:
* Proven logistics or supply chain experience, with a focus on import and freight management.
* Strong understanding of international shipping processes (air and sea), customs regulations, and compliance requirements.
* Experience managing import documentation, including customs declarations and clearance forms.
* Ability to negotiate and build relationships with freight providers to achieve cost savings and service improvements.
* Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
