Swansea Bay University Health Board currently has a Band 6 vacancy for an Occupational Therapist in Rheumatology. This outpatient role includes splinting, joint protection, and self-management techniques. We are happy to consider applications from current Band 5's with a passion to work in this clinical specialty.
The post will allow the successful applicant the opportunity to work collaboratively within an integrated multi-disciplinary team. You will provide specialist assessment, goal-directed intervention, and rehabilitation to patients in the setting.
You will be required to work closely with MDT colleagues and contribute to the development of a high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy service. You will have an opportunity to help shape and promote the service, providing you with a unique opportunity to engage in service development and change.
You will need excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills and sound clinical knowledge, but enthusiasm and the potential to develop these within the post will also be valued. As such, you will be provided with a variety of opportunities to develop your leadership, management, and clinical skills.
You will be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service; the contract hours include a 7-day shift pattern, with extended working hours covering 365 days of the year.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Managing a defined caseload within the specialist area using evidence-based/client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the outcomes of intervention where appropriate.
2. Ensuring clinical records are kept to agreed standards and reporting accurately to others.
3. Working in partnership with clients, carers, and all stakeholders including the multidisciplinary/multi-agency team to identify relevant goals.
4. Providing leadership and supervision for junior staff, as delegated by supervisor/Team Leader.
5. Regularly supervising Occupational Therapy students on practice placements.
6. Participating in CPD and developing skills and knowledge through participation in developmental activities.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
