Due to the growing number of treatments we are now giving to patients and the increasing external support we are offering to other healthcare centres, our busy and professional Sterile Services department has a new opening for a Sterile Services Technician. You will join our fun team in supporting the Sterile Services Manager in ensuring a continuously effective decontamination and sterile supplies service.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide an effective service for the needs of surgeons and patients.
2. Accountable for the reprocessing of reusable medical devices, including washing, disinfecting, and sterilizing theatre equipment.
3. Maintain supplies inventories and stock levels, keeping accurate records on our computer system.
4. Conduct daily validation testing and recording.
5. Monitor all procedures and report malfunctions of sterilisers and washer-disinfectors to the Sterile Services Manager.
6. Participate in conducting planned audits, ensuring equipment is correctly labelled and documented.
7. Focus on concentration during the decontamination and packing process.
We are looking for a Sterile Services Technician who comes from a similar background, is a strong team player, and has a good working appreciation of decontamination processes within a healthcare/surgical environment. The role requires standing while carrying out duties in all production areas, with a frequent requirement to exert moderate to high physical effort while unloading and loading trolleys into autoclaves and washer disinfectors. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, along with a good degree of computer literacy, are essential.
The role requires applicants to preferably have Hepatitis B and TB vaccinations; however, Practice Plus Group will put successful applicants through a course if there is no evidence of immunisation.
