An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated doctor, interested in plastic surgery and burns, to join our Plastic Surgery Department from February 2025 for a 6 month period.
During the course of the appointment, the post holders will be encouraged to develop clinical audit and research projects ultimately aiming for national and international presentations and publications.
The post holders will be expected to work on the 1:8 registrar on call rota. Depending on the level of experience, we will endeavour to tailor the post to allow all necessary competences, to be achieved. For more junior trainees we will help trainees to achieve required competences for national selection at ST3 level. More senior trainees will be given the opportunity to develop their skills in their chosen sub-specialties.
The Plastic surgery department, regional burns centre for adults and paediatric burns unit are situated on the Pinderfields site with outpatient and day-case services at Pontefract General Hospital and Dewsbury District Hospital. We also have dedicated hand therapy services at all three hospital sites and plastic surgery dressings clinic at Pinderfields Hospital. Our adult burns, general plastic surgery ward, hand therapy unit and plastic surgery dressings clinic are all co-located on the same floor., The main duties of the post will include:
Provision of care with responsibility for the management of patients with acute and chronic conditions including complex cases.
Referral of patients to other specialities as appropriate
Out-patient activities - clinics
Involvement in specialty and cross-specialty multi-disciplinary teams and meetings
Involvement in relevant administration duties
Teaching and supervision of junior medical staff and other clinicians as appropriate
Active involvement in audit and clinical governance including service improvement activities
