We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Technician to join our waste team to work out of the Newbury and Reading area.
As the successful Candidate, your role will be to support the process Technicians in the overall operations of Sewage treatment works. You will inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair as appropriate, mechanical plant equipment, alongside supporting the operation of the plant.
Working within the team, you will follow a robust maintenance plan as well as getting involved in installation projects, mechanical fault finding, project commissioning and emergency breakdown repairs to ensure our plant operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
What you’ll be doing as the Mechanical Technician
* Investigating plant failures and carrying out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process.
* Carrying out scheduled planned maintenance work on mechanical equipment in compliance with company standards and procedures.
* Providing technical advice to the wider team, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and providing training or support for technical trainees if required.
* Maintaining technical equipment such as pumps, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement, pipework, and chemical handling and dosing equipment.
What you should bring to the role
* You should be a time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical systems, with NVQ or C&G level 3 in mechanical engineering and an upskill qualification in mechanical NVQ2/3.
* Experience working on large industrial plant equipment including various pumps within the utilities industry would be beneficial.
* Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are essential.
* A valid driving licence is essential.
* Participation in a 24/7 out-of-hours standby rota will be required after a suitable period of training and assessment.
