The job plan will largely be expected to include 7 clinical sessions per week. Although all doctors within the department work to the framework of a job plan, there is a longstanding culture that applies the spirit of the contract where colleagues cross-cover sessions in most areas to support leave or sickness and to help maintain the smooth working and efficiency of the department. The team of Specialist Gastroenterologists is growing. As we recruit, the job plan will likely adapt to providing a month of ward care on a rotational basis with reduced clinics and endoscopy lists. This aims to improve continuity of care on the wards, optimise service provision, allow cross-cover for sickness, leave, study leave absences whilst continuing to support the personal and professional development of the team.
