Job overview
We are looking for an Orthopaedic Practitioner to cover a 10 month maternity leave. You will be required to hold the British Casting Certificate (BCC) and maintain registration with the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA).
You will work in the Plaster Room, within the Orthopaedic Outpatient Department, caring for patients with a range of trauma and orthopaedic conditions.
Main duties of the job
You will work in the Plaster Room, within the Orthopaedic Outpatient Department, caring for patients with a range of trauma and orthopaedic conditions. The Orthopaedic Practitioner will fulfil the requirements described in the job description and person specification. You will develop and maintain skills to undertake the application and removal of plaster casts and splints. The position involves working in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team.
The focus will be on providing care that is efficient, holistic, and consistently of a high standard, in accordance with Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn NHS Foundation Trust policies and procedures.

Qualifications
* Possess British Orthopaedic Association Registration
* British Casting Certification
* NVQ Level 3 qualification or foundation degree in healthcare or equivalent qualification or experience
* Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
Experience
* Experience of working as an orthopaedic practitioner in a plaster room within a hospital setting
* Previous experience with dealing with members of the public or voluntary group activities
* Previous experience working in trauma/orthopaedics
Skills, abilities, and knowledge
* Ability to work with colleagues as part of a team
* Competent and have experience of basic wound care including suture/staple removal, K wire removal, wound dressings etc.
* Basic knowledge and understanding of the role in the healthcare setting
