On offer for the Design Engineer is the opportunity to join an expanding, privately-owned manufacturing company with over 30 years of industry expertise. You'll be part of a highly skilled design team responsible for developing and improving a range of static, mobile, and bespoke products, with opportunities for personal growth and technical advancement.
The Design Engineer will be responsible for designing bespoke products in 3D and 2D using software such as Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, RADAN, and RADBEND. You'll also manage the manufacturing process, including scheduling products for production and creating detailed drawing packs for operators. The role requires expertise in nesting and bending software, as well as the ability to create BOMs and use MRP platform software.
The ideal Design Engineer is a self-starter with a keen eye for detail and problem-solving. You have a few years of experience in design, preferably within a metal manufacturing environment, and a strong background in 3D sheet metal design and MRP systems.
The Role:
1. Design bespoke products in 3D and 2D using software such as RADAN, RADBEND, Autodesk Inventor, and AutoCAD.
2. Collaborate with the Design Manager and manufacturing team to develop innovative, high-spec designs.
3. Provide detailed drawing packs for folding, welding, and assembly operators.
4. Manage the manufacturing process, including product scheduling and working with the in-house MRP system.
5. Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal departments to ensure efficient design and production.
The Person:
1. Experience with 3D/2D design software, particularly in sheet metal design.
2. Proven track record in a design role within metal manufacturing.
3. Experience with nesting and bending software for laser/punch/pressbrake machinery.
4. Familiarity with MRP platforms, including BOM creation.
