Job Title: Residential Childcare Officer
Location: Cardiff
Rate: £16.85 (day), £22.46 (night), £33.70 (bank holiday), £25.28 (overtime)
Cardiff Council is looking for a Residential Childcare Officer to join their team!
What will your responsibilities be?
As a Residential Childcare Officer, you will provide a caring and supportive environment for children and young people, ensuring that their racial, cultural, and religious identities are respected and affirmed. You will advocate for and support these individuals, which may involve representing them or accompanying them to schools, health facilities, job centers, and other events. Additionally, you will assist in returning children and young people to their families or help them transition to alternative caregivers, preparing them for adulthood as part of their Care Plan and Pathway Plan. Collaborating with social work staff, parents, and caregivers, you will help design and implement Care Plans and Placement Plans for each child or young person, taking into account their views and preferences.

Qualifications and Experience
To succeed in this role, you must be eligible to work in the UK and hold a full UK driving license. You should have post-qualified experience working with children or young adults in roles such as Nursery Nurse, Teaching Assistant, or Childcare Provider. A Level 3 childcare qualification is desirable. Being a car driver is essential, and while willingness to do sleep-ins is preferred, it is not mandatory.
