You will work within our fully equipped workshops, using the latest technology to learn and develop valuable skills in paint refinishing on cars, vans and light commercials, with opportunity to learn body repair techniques.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
* The apprentice Paint Refinisher to train alongside existing skilled staff in the paint department reporting to the workshop controller or depot manager daily
* In addition to training and assisting in the paint department you will carry out general housekeeping duties
* Preparation – stripping, sanding and masking
* Etching and priming areas to be treated
* Colour matching and mixing
* Paint application techniques including spray booth technology
* Buffing and polishing methods
* Paint defect corrections

Course contents
* Ability to undertake appropriate job preparation prior to commencing repair e.g. substrate surface preparation, paint volume calculation etc
* Ability to correctly identify the substrate materials to be refinished e.g. plastic, steel, aluminium etc
* Ability to interpret relevant technical data and methods to create paint manufactures specified application
* Ability to use refinishing materials following paint manufacturer specifications to reinstate vehicle finish back to high quality
* Ability to identify and operate the correct repair tools, equipment and devices used in the process e.g mixing systems, paint booths, UV lamps and spray equipment
