Ropery Walk is a community primary school in the heart of Seaham. Our school is a place where every child is valued, and where being part of our community is something to be proud of. This role reports directly to the School Office Manager.
Key Responsibilities
The post holder may be requested to undertake any but not necessarily all of the following duties. Duties required will be directed by the School Office Manager, according to the school’s needs.
Reception:
1. Providing a warm welcome to all. Dealing with telephone and face-to-face enquiries in an efficient and professional manner.
2. Ensuring that all messages are dealt with in a timely and accurate fashion and, where relevant, relayed to colleagues promptly.
3. Dealing with incoming and outgoing post.
4. Maintaining the security and safeguarding of the school by controlling access and ensuring the completion of relevant procedures, i.e., signing in, issuing of identification badges.
5. Providing information and support to other staff members as required.
6. Providing hospitality for visitors.
7. Ensuring that all information is treated confidentially and having absolute discretion at all times, complying with the school’s data protection procedures.
Administrative:
1. Updating manual and computerised records/management information systems.
2. Checking goods and monitoring paperwork.
3. Updating and distributing communications which may include but is not limited to the school’s website, social media, school noticeboards, newsletters, and other communication with parents, colleagues, and the community.
4. Assisting the School Office Manager in marketing the school.
5. Maintaining the school diary.
6. Producing reports from the Management Information System under the direction of the School Office Manager.
7. Attending, participating, and taking notes at meetings as required.
8. General administrative duties such as photocopying, filing, emailing, and completion of routine forms. This could be directly supporting the Headteacher or School Office Manager.
Apprenticeship will be delivered in the workplace. You will be in the workplace 5 days per week, and will be visited by your assessor once a month.
Working hours: Monday - Thursday 8 am - 4 pm, Friday 8 am - 3:30 pm.
