Accounts Assistant
Location: Basildon, Essex
Salary: £27000 - £30000
Working Hours: Monday - Friday 8am-5pm

Join our client's dynamic team as an Accounts Assistant! We are seeking a detail-oriented individual to provide essential support in the areas of subcontractor registration, payment processing, invoice management, and management accounts. As an integral member of their team, you will play a vital role in ensuring smooth financial operations and maintaining accurate records.
Responsibilities:
1. Register new subcontractors, ensuring compliance with all necessary documentation and requirements.
2. Update and amend subcontractor details, maintaining accurate and complete records.
3. Verify subcontractors on the HMRC website, ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
4. Add and update projects on the internal system, ensuring up-to-date project information.
5. Assist in creating, checking, and amending subcontractor payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company procedures.
6. Review supplier invoices, comparing them against purchase orders and proof of deliveries before processing them for payment.
7. Handle invoice queries efficiently, resolving any issues promptly.
8. Maintain the invoice query spreadsheet, closing items in a timely manner.
9. Ensure month-end cut-off is observed for monthly cost reporting.
10. Provide copy invoices/PODs to other departments upon request.
11. Assist in creating, checking, and amending supplier payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company procedures.
12. Allocate direct debits from the banking system to Sage promptly and accurately.
13. Support the maintenance and reconciliation of petty cash.
14. Conduct monthly bank account reconciliations.
15. Assist with the year-end audit process.
Requirements:
1. Previous experience in an accounts role and knowledge of the Construction Industry Scheme.
2. Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
3. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
4. Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
5. Knowledge of accounting software, ideally Sage.
6. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
7. A positive and adaptable mindset, with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
