The Head of Health & Safety will develop and implement Health and Safety policies and procedures, driving a philosophy of safety ownership throughout all levels of the organisation, collaborating with Managers and employees, and develop and implement strategic aims to effectively deliver, promote and maintain a positive health and safety culture across the business.
Leading the investigation of all major incidents and dangerous occurrences, including creating action plans to facilitate organisational learning and risk control, the Head of Health & Safety will lead benchmarking and implementation of industry health and safety best practice.
Main responsibilities will include:
* To ensure a framework is in place that enables risk assessments across the business that identifies potential hazards.
* To have expert oversight to ensure Health & Safety training and education is fit for purpose and delivered.
* To keep up to date with changes in Health & Safety legislation and best practices.
* To ensure processes are in place to maintain accurate records.
* To develop an audit and oversight process that assures safety performance.
You will hold a NEBOSH National General Certificate, NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in Occupational Safety and an advanced qualification level and/or demonstrable senior experience in a Safety subject.
With experience of working in a similar role in a busy people-focused environment with responsibility for Health and Safety in a multi-site environment, you will have experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a highly regulated sector, ideally within the Health and Social Care or Healthcare sector.
You will be an excellent communicator, with good verbal and written communication skills applied across all levels and the ability to influence, coach others and build credibility, and be able to work effectively under pressure and deal with challenging situations.
Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility and therefore it is important that you are able to recognise the signs which may indicate possible abuse, harm or neglect in its different forms and know what to do if there are any concerns. You also have the ability to seek appropriate advice and report concerns, including escalation if action is not taken.
