An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead our Bridge Engineering team. You will work with a variety of partners, customers, and clients on the delivery of a professional service that maximises resources and delivers positive outcomes.
You will be responsible for management of the Council’s road structure assets, such as bridges and retaining walls. This includes managing the inspection and assessment regime, Technical Approval of new structures on public roads, managing Abnormal Indivisible Load movements and developing, prioritising and delivering a program of capital and revenue work to ensure a safe, well maintained road structures stock.
With a Degree in Civil Engineering or relevant subject and Incorporated or Chartered Membership of either ICE or IStructE, you will have substantial knowledge and experience in a relevant field. You must have a proven track record of delivering projects and service priorities, including the ability to achieve project milestones and targets. You must be able to demonstrate proven experience of developing successful working relationships with contractors and professional service providers and in NEC contract management. You will have demonstrable experience in asset management and planning, tracking, and communicating progress on projects. You will also have capital and revenue budgetary experience including preparation, monitoring and control arrangements.
You will be business and customer focused with a demonstrable record of identifying opportunities, achieving outcomes, managing change, and exercising strong leadership skills. You will be self-motivated with a flexible and collaborative approach to work and have the ability to cope with multiple and changing demands whilst meeting tight deadlines. You will also have a sound understanding and knowledge of relevant legislation, codes of practice and initiatives.
With excellent organisational and IT skills, you will be able to utilise various Microsoft Office packages, and be a clear written and verbal communicator, with the ability to analyse information and produce reports and with experience of presenting information in public forums. You will be required to travel throughout North Lanarkshire to undertake the duties of this post.
You will be joining a dynamic and flexible team within Infrastructure and Transportation, who currently operate a hybrid model of home-working and office-based work at locations within North Lanarkshire. You will be required to hold a current UK driving licence to apply for this position.
