The opportunity to deliver a key role within Glasgow City Council’s Property and Consulting Services department.
Working as part of a committed and professional team, the post holder will have a vital role in ensuring flood risk is managed for communities and businesses in the Glasgow area including the discharge of statutory responsibilities under the Flood Risk Management (Scotland) Act 2009.
Central to the role will be improving the city’s climate resilience to reduce the impact of flooding through the development and implementation of policy and delivery of capital programmes.
You will lead on surface water management plan projects as identified in the Clyde and Loch Lomond Local Flood Risk Management Plan and liaise closely with the various departments at Glasgow City Council and professionals from different agencies to achieve a comprehensive joined-up approach to delivering blue-green infrastructure.
You will be ensuring that the Flood Risk Management team continues to fulfil its role as statutory consultee in the planning process and influence and promote sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) in new developments. The post holder will report to the Grade 8 Assistant Group Manager. It would be preferred (but not essential) for you to have a relevant degree and membership of a relevant professional institute.
