Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time permanent Occupational therapy technical Instructor to join our dynamic team working with adults and older people who are experiencing acute mental illness requiring inpatient care within Springview unit, Clatterbridge hospital. The successful applicant needs to be able to work as part of the Occupational Therapy Team, taking direction from the qualified OT's but also to show initiative and self-direction when working independently. The Occupational Therapy service aims to support service users toward independence and safe discharge, using a person-centred approach. The successful applicant will mainly be working across two acute inpatient wards and a psychiatric intensive care unit. The patients are generally adults aged 18-65 although there may be older people on these wards. Main duties of the job The postholder will work as part of the Occupational Therapy team to plan and facilitate a varied programme of therapeutic activities, working in small groups or individually with service users. This is a dynamic role where no two days are the same. The successful post holder will need to demonstrate a good understanding of Occupational therapy, mental health conditions, risk management, be enthusiastic and display a caring and compassionate nature. Previous experience in working within Occupational therapy or with Individuals experiencing mental health conditions would be advantageous to this post as would an interest in arts/crafts and activities to engage patients who are suffering with their mental health. The post is 30 hours (Monday - Thursday). Working hours are presently between 8:30 - 4:30 (subject to change). The successful individual will need to be an enthusiastic, passionate, adaptable, and highly motivated, with a keen interest in mental health. You will be part of an established, friendly, integrated multidisciplinary team, as well as receiving support, direction, and supervision from senior Occupational Therapy staff.
