Main duties of the job The new post provides an exciting opportunity to assist with Dental Implants, Oral Surgery under IV Sedation, Orthodontics, Composite Bonding, skin treatments and much more. Relevant experience of these treatments would be beneficial. Some evening and weekend working will be required as part of the Nurse team rota. Successful candidate must be qualified and GDC registered, with a minimum two-years of UK dental practice experience. Having sedation, orthodontics, and Implants experience is desirable but not essential. The successful candidate must hold a valid DBS check. Job description An orthodontic dental nurse primarily assists an orthodontist in providing dental care by preparing patients for orthodontic procedures, handing instruments during treatment, taking impressions, applying braces and retainers, educating patients on oral hygiene practices specific to orthodontic treatment, and maintaining a sterile clinical environment, all while prioritizing patient comfort and care. Key responsibilities of an orthodontic dental nurse: Patient care: Welcoming patients, reviewing medical history, and taking vital signs. Explaining orthodontic procedures and addressing patient concerns. Providing post-treatment instructions and follow-up care. Managing patient anxieties and ensuring comfort during procedures. Clinical assistance: Preparing the operatory by setting up instruments and materials needed for orthodontic procedures. Taking impressions of patients' teeth to create dental casts. Assisting the orthodontist by passing instruments, suctioning saliva, and maintaining clear visibility of the treatment area. Applying and adjusting orthodontic appliances like braces and retainers. Performing pre- and post-treatment cleanings. Administrative tasks: Maintaining patient records and updating treatment plans Scheduling appointments and managing patient flow Ordering supplies and maintaining inventory Sterilizing instruments and adhering to infection control protocols
