The Role
The post holder works as part of a team of Qualified Dental Nurses and provides full surgery and administrative support to Clinicians (Public Dental Officers, Senior Dental Officers, Consultant Orthodontists, Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, Associate Specialists, training grade dentists, SpRs, SHOs, Dental Hygienists & Dental Therapists). The duties include all the duties normally expected of a Qualified Dental Nurse in terms of chair/bed side, surgery and theatre clinical assistance and administrative assistance.

What we'll need you to bring
1. Hold a Nationally recognised Dental Nurse Qualification.
2. Be on the GDC’s register for Dental Nurses
3. Have a level of specialist theoretical knowledge and practical skills that will enable them to work with a variety of clinicians and respond to any situation that develops, including emergencies
4. Experience working in a dental surgery. Experience of working in a multidisciplinary environment and experience of working as a dental nurse in more than one branch of dentistry would be advantageous
5. Have experience of working with a variety of clinicians in a variety of settings and be able to confidently assist the dentist to provide a full range of dental treatment
6. The postholder’s experience will ensure they have a level of understanding of and can anticipate the support the dentist and the patient needs so that treatment can be provided in a safe, economical, efficient and effective manner.
7. Commitment to continuing Professional Development
8. Experience in clinical governance including audit
9. The ability to work with people and have a range of patient management skills and good interpersonal skills
10. Able to communicate well at all levels – good reporting skills verbal and written
11. A flexible and adaptable approach to work
12. Abel to demonstrate self motivation, use initiative and accept responsibility
13. Good organizational and administrative skills.
14. The ability to take direction and work as part of a team through procedures and protocols to meet agreed targets.
15. The ability, when necessary, to use initiative, intuition and know how in imaginative and creative ways to overcome problems and stimulate change.
16. To be able to cope confidentially with a designated work remit, but yet remain a part of the wider dental team in Lanarkshire.
17. IT skills, be able to use a computer and have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and an understanding of the Data Protection act
18. Knowledge of dental procedures, new techniques and up to date knowledge about materials.
19. Awareness of patient confidentiality, child protection issues, the Disability Discrimination Act and the Adults with Incapacity Act
20. Car driver with valid a full, valid UK/EU/EEA licence

This role will be based in Public Dental Service within Buchanan Centre
The working pattern for this role will be confirmed by the hiring manager.
