An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Interventional Radiology nursing team at Royal Glamorgan Hospital.
The Interventional Radiology team is a small and friendly multidisciplinary team consisting of Nurses, Radiographers, and Consultant Radiologists. We provide a 24/7 on-call service for emergency patients.
For this role, you will be a nurse who has an interest in developing the skills for this highly specialised area, including scrub, conscious sedation, and participating in a cross-site on-call service.

You will be working in a variety of clinical areas with all members of the multidisciplinary team. You will have good communication and organisational abilities alongside excellent clinical standards.
Previous Radiology experience would be beneficial but is not essential as all training will be carried out in-house.
Primary responsibilities include:
1. Patient assessment, preparation, monitoring, and post-procedure care.
2. Working closely with radiologists, technologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure that imaging procedures are carried out safely and effectively.
3. Scrubbing/assisting a Radiologist peri-operatively and monitoring patients' vital signs and overall condition.
4. Providing conscious sedation or pain management if necessary, ensuring that patients remain comfortable and stable throughout the procedure.
5. Responding quickly in emergency situations, providing critical care, and coordinating with other medical staff.
6. Post-procedure care, including monitoring for adverse reactions, managing immediate complications or post-procedural pain/discomfort, and providing discharge instructions.
7. Educating patients on what to expect after the procedure and when to seek medical attention if necessary.
