Job Vacancy: SEMH Teaching Assistant – Southampton\n\nLocation: Southampton, Hampshire\n Position: SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) Teaching Assistant\n Start Date: Immediate or September 2025\n Contract: Full-Time | Term-Time Only\n Salary: £13.75 P/H\n\nAre you passionate about supporting young people facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges? Do you want to be part of a team that truly makes a difference?\n\nWe are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic and supportive school in Southampton. This role involves working closely with students who may display challenging behaviour and require emotional and behavioural support to engage with their learning.\n\nAbout the Role:\n\nProvide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs\n\nImplement behaviour management strategies and emotional regulation techniques\n\nSupport students both in and out of the classroom setting\n\nCollaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies\n\nHelp build a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for learning\n\nAbout You:\n\nExperience supporting children or young people with SEMH, trauma, or behavioural needs\n\nCalm, empathetic, and resilient under pressure\n\nStrong communication and de-escalation skills\n\nA team player with a passion for inclusive education\n\nRelevant qualifications (e.g.
