We are looking for a Senior Risk Engineer to join our Property Energy business segment in the EMEA region You will provide technical advice to property underwriters especially with regards to Power and Utilities Underwriting business (simple/combined cycle power plants, conventional steam power plants, reciprocating engines, hydro electrical plants and renewable energy). Sounds interesting? About the Role You will advise our underwriters on risk quality, loss estimates, loss prevention measures and capacity allocation for our Power and Utilities book of business. This is done by reviewing, interpreting and summarizing third party technical risk information (desktop risk analysis). It also encompasses on-site risk inspections and operations reviews to verify our clients' risk mitigation approaches and to provide clients with risk improvement suggestions. Expected travel is around 20-30%. In this role you will closely interact with underwriters and other internal clients. As a member of our global Risk Engineering Services (RES) team you will be one of our experts in this dedicated core industry. This will allow you to contribute to various projects and papers involving best practices, guidelines, technology and industry updates. This role has global responsibilities and the team come from a diverse range of backgrounds, so you should be comfortable working in a truly international environment. About You You are a Mechanical or Electrical engineer with several years' experience in the power industry, preferably with sound knowledge in gas turbine technology (design, installation/construction, commissioning, maintenance or inspection superintendent, etc.). You have experience or a strong curiosity about loss prevention topics (e.g. fire protection, machinery breakdown, technical risk management); Sound knowledge of international loss prevention/fire protection standards (e.g. NFPA or equivalent) is important; previous experiences as "insurance" risk engineer would be ideal; You have strong communication, negotiation and presenting skills, an entrepreneurial attitude, service mindset and can work well within a team as well as independently, often under pressure; Language skills: English (Native German is desirable, other language skills would be advantageous); About the Team We are a part of RES Energy and conformed of eight engineers located worldwide.
