Long-Term Teachers are proud to partner with a brand-new, forward thinking Special Educational Needs (SEN) provision in the beautiful town of Tavistock, Devon. This nurturing setting is purpose-built to support children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA) - creating a calm, therapeutic learning environment tailored to their unique needs.
Supporting students from Year 3 to Year 11, this site welcomes up to 30 pupils, all with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). The school is committed to providing a safe, inclusive and structured environment where students can thrive both academically and emotionally.
About The Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced HLTA to join this specialist SEN team. This is a fulfilling opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and ASD.
As a HLTA, you will:
* Deliver targeted interventions and support learning on a 1:1 and small group basis
* Contribute to the planning and delivery of engaging, differentiated lessons
* Foster emotional resilience, build social skills and promote academic growth
* Provide pastoral support and help students feel safe, seen and valued
* Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals to ensure consistent and tailored support
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver specialised support for students with SEMH and autism, both individually and in groups
* Assist in creating and delivering inclusive, differentiated lesson plans
* Track student progress and communicate outcomes with staff and families
* Support emotional regulation and wellbeing using therapeutic approaches
* Encourage student confidence, independence and self-esteem
* Supervise pupils during break and lunchtime, promoting social inclusion
* Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support holistic development
What We’re Looking For:
* A recognised HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
* Proven track record supporting children with SEMH and ASD
* Strong understanding of inclusive education and child development
* Excellent communication, relationship building and teamwork skills
* Confidence in delivering interventions and supporting lesson delivery
* A proactive, compassionate and flexible approach
* A clear commitment to safeguarding and child welfare
