Overview
As Legal Counsel you will play a key role in drafting and negotiating agreements across the breadth of business activities, which may range from securing funding opportunities to supply agreements to providing services to customers. Within this varied role, you will also help shape the company contracting strategy to enable efficient and consistent solutions alongside dealing with complex contracting scenarios. You will help to develop the suite of company contract templates which provide optimal and tailored protection for the company’s interests and opportunities. You will also provide a degree of supervision of contracting activity across the Commercial and Procurement teams, as well helping to develop capabilities across those teams.
Working arrangements
Please note this role does offer hybrid working, our model sets out a minimum 60% onsite / 40% home working split.

Responsibilities
* Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including MOUs, Collaboration Agreements, Sales Agreements, Purchasing and Supply Agreements, and Research Agreements
* Devise bespoke agreements for strategic opportunities
* Provide counsel as required to a number of internal teams on a variety of legal topics
* Provide guidance and support on contract drafting alongside legal and compliance matters to members of the Commercial and Procurement teams
* Use knowledge of law to develop pragmatic and creative solutions balancing risk, resource, and delivery
* Develop contracting templates reflecting the nuances of the company’s strategy and risk-profile
* Help to develop contracting capabilities within the Commercial and Procurement teams
* Gain a detailed understanding of the company strategy and objectives of teams across the companies
Requirements
* Qualified to practise as a solicitor in England and Wales
* Experience in contract and commercial law, with complementary knowledge in complementary areas of law
* Demonstratable experience in application of law to various business scenarios and developing commercially focused solutions
* Strong skills in legal research and application of research to complex scenarios
* Excellent attention to detail and analysis skills
* Highly organised with extensive experience independently prioritising and driving delivery to deadlines
* Experience in training and supervising others
* Experience working in-house or in technology sector desirable
