Assist in the promotion a proactive Health and Safety culture throughout the Trust in order to assist in the reduction of incidents, accidents and near miss events.
Provide the highest standard of professional health and safety advice and training to Trust staff, (in line with CSTF requirements where applicable), in supporting the management of non-clinical risks and promoting use of safe working practices throughout the Trust.
To promote the Trust’s values in creating a safe and secure environment in which to deliver the highest standards of clinical care to the Trust’s patients.
The post holder will predominately provide specialist advice and guidance to all Trust employees, but they will also be expected to advise on patient related accidents, injuries and clinical environments on safety matters. They will also be responsible for;Auditing and writing reports
• Managing Datix and investigating incidents, accidents and near miss events
• Managing the online COSHH database
• Health and Safety Training
• Policy Writing and Updating
• Providing specialist advice and guidance on health and safety issues
• Advise staff regarding suitable safety equipment and carry out safety risk assessments.
• RIDDOR Reporting
• DSE Assessments
Day to day monitoring of health & safety in all Trust premises. Use specialist knowledge around health and safety legislation to assist in the planning and implementation of a successful health and safety management system, which in turn will create a pro-active health and safety culture within the Trust.
Support Divisions, Directorates, Departments, Wards, and Specialities with the identification, prioritising and management of key risk, and support managers in the development of appropriate risk assessments and action plans to address these risks.
Support the Trust’s risk management programme by ensuring health and safety risk assessments meet the legal, national and Trust standards, and advise that risks are entered on to the Trust risk register for ongoing monitoring and mitigation as far as reasonably practicable.
