This position is located at our European headquarters in High Wycombe, UK.
The Custom group is responsible for the design and manufacture of bespoke materials testing machines and accessories. This position will work with the Project Engineers to deliver multiple projects on short timescales to meet customer requirements.
Job Description
* Responsible for the design of custom products using CAD (Solid Edge).
* Preparation of schemes, proposals and layouts as part of the design draughting process.
* Collaborate closely with the engineering and design teams to ensure accurate interpretation of design specifications.
* Adhere to drawing office and design standards.
* Produce electrical circuit diagrams from design schemes.
* Liaise with external and internal suppliers to clarify design and production needs.
* Assist in the modification and revision of existing designs as required.
* Liaise with the relevant team(s) to produce schemes for proposal presentations.
Key Competencies:
* Independently review the design choices through basic engineering calculations (e.g. stressing).
* Strong understanding of technical drawing principles and geometric tolerancing.
* Ability to conduct Finite Element Analysis, desirable.
* Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards and project requirements.
* Capability of working to short-timescales, multi-tasking where necessary and delivering to agreed project timescales.
Qualifications
An HNC or higher in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
Key Experiences:
* Proficient user of a 2D & 3D CAD system (Solid Edge desirable).
* Demonstrable drawing experience in a precision electro-mechanical engineering environment, essential.
* Good working knowledge of appropriate drawing, engineering and material standards (e.g. BS308).
* Experience of working with a wide range of materials, desirable.
