Are you passionate about the small things that run the planet? We have an exciting opportunity to help Scotland’s invertebrates to survive and thrive. We are looking for a conservation officer to deliver our Aberdeen Nectar Networks project. This project is building on the success of our Aberdeen B-Lines project which worked with Aberdeen City Council to transform habitat at several parks and areas of greenspace to improve habitat connectivity along the B-Lines network for pollinating insects. Aberdeen Nectar Networks will transform at least 8 hectares of land at up to 13 sites working with project partners, including Aberdeen City Council. Restoration of sites will contribute towards halting biodiversity loss, the decline in pollinators and other invertebrates associated with wildflower grassland habitats. The project will further enhance greenspace across Aberdeen to deliver more connected and resilient nature networks, including along B-Lines and at other sites close to B-Lines. This role will include: partnership working, planning and delivering habitat restoration and management; including procuring and managing contractors, overseeing volunteers, delivering presentations and other outreach activities, coordinating permissions, working with local communities, managing volunteers, public relations, financial management and teamwork. We are looking for someone who has their own area of interest and specialism but can also demonstrate a broad knowledge of invertebrate ecology and a willingness to expand their knowledge and work in new areas.
