Staff Nurse - Davenport Ward - The Meadows
We are looking for an experienced mental health nurse with a passion and interest in older age mental health. Experience is required to support our junior newly qualified staff on the ward.
Davenport Ward is a 20-bedded female functional ward at The Meadows in Offerton, Stockport. We deliver outstanding care to people living with a functional mental illness who are admitted for an assessment of their needs. We will work with the families and carers on a discharge pathway that supports both the people living with their mental illness and their families and carers. Davenport Ward is a challenging and rewarding environment, and we aim to offer the best care we can provide to both the people living with dementia and those that support them. We are supported by a full multidisciplinary team of Consultant Psychiatrists, Mental Health Nurses, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, and Social Workers.
Main Duties of the Job
Role Summary:
As a qualified nurse, you would be a vital member of the team in delivering person-centred care to those admitted onto the ward. You will be working with people who can be very distressed and display some very challenging behaviours. It will be your responsibility to provide reassurance and distraction, using care and compassion for the people living with dementia. You will also be responsible for a wide range of tasks such as care planning and implementation, risk assessment, physical health assessment, liaising with the wider MDT, ward rounds, and you will be a named nurse.

Person Specification
Education / Qualifications
* First level registered nurse, RMN or RN in Mental Health
* Must have a good understanding of both innumeracy and language skills.
* Qualification in psychosocial interventions is an advantage
* Completed Preparation for Mentorship
Experience
* Current experience of adult acute inpatient wards
Knowledge
* Knowledge base in terms of this client group
Skills and Abilities
* Be able to perform required duties of the post.
* Must be flexible and able to work on an internal rota basis across nights and days
* Experience of working within a psychosocial model of care delivery
Work Related Circumstances

* Use of a car or access to a means of mobility to travel across the Trust footprint in line with service needs
