Job Title: Early Years - Emotional Wellbeing & Behaviour Starting Salary: £37,035 progressing to £40,476 per annum Hours: 37.0 Location: Hertfordshire Contract Type: Permanent Directorate: Childrens Services About the team The Early Years SEND team in Hertfordshire, is for children aged 0-5 who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). We support these children and families by providing specialist advice and guidance to childcare providers and early years settings. We work closely with settings to support children through key transitions. About the role We currently have an opportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced Early Years practitioner looking for a new challenge. You are invited to apply to join our team of Early Years specialists, working successfully throughout Hertfordshire to support families and educational settings with the inclusion of children with SEND. In the role of Early Years Emotional Wellbeing and Behaviour Specialist, you will work closely with Early Years providers to ensure their provision provides effective therapeutic behaviour support to all learners. Some children may require specific, specialised support to meet their social and emotional needs. In this instance, the Early Years SEND Team will work alongside Early Years providers to ensure their provision reflects Hertfordshire's preferred approach to therapeutic behaviour support. In the majority of cases, this will be focussed on strengthening the processes, policy and practice of settings to ensure a positive, supportive learning environment for all children. Early Years Emotional Wellbeing and Behaviour Specialists guide and advise Early Years practitioners to confidently support children who require additional support to regulate and manage their behaviours, enabling providers to effectively embed strategies and provision to support these needs. You will have recent experience supporting children in early years settings or the Early Years Foundation Stage in schools or currently work in an advisory service. You will need significant experience supporting children with a range of behavioural and emotional needs. This will be accompanied by a thorough knowledge and experience of implementing the SEND Code of Practice and experience supporting or mentoring other practitioners or colleagues. You will have a Recognised vocational or professional qualification plus broad experience in area of expertise, and/or degree qualified, excellent interpersonal skills, work well within a team and be able to work to deadlines. Additional qualifications or experience in trauma and attachment, therapeutic behaviour support or social, emotional and mental health needs would be highly desirable. About you Essential : Recognised vocational, professional qualification and/or degree qualified. Recent experience supporting children in early years settings or the Early Years Foundation Stage in schools. Thorough working knowledge and experience of implementing SEND policies and legislation. A team player who can work with other experienced practitioners and handle sometimes difficult conversations with empathy and compassion. A passion for helping children and their families to achieve the best outcomes. Experience in trauma and attachment informed practice. Knowledge of how to keep children safe and practices and procedures that should be followed. Good written English skills with an ability to write reports concisely and clearly. Having good time management and able to work within time constraints. Desirable : Experience of hosting and presenting training topics to a variety of audiences. Additional qualifications or experience in trauma and attachment, therapeutic behaviour support or social, emotional, and mental health needs Understanding of multi-agency working.
