We are excited to be recruiting a Pastoral Support Lead, based at our purpose built social, emotional and mental health school in Hull. The school specialises in educating its pupils through bespoke individualised learning programmes, delivered using high-quality teaching and pastoral care. Pupils within Felix House present with an Educational Health Care Plan and need additional support surrounding Social Emotional Mental Health.
Wherever possible we extend learning beyond the confines of the school and out in the community; collaboratively working with the children’s home, creating an environment of 24/7 learning.
The successful applicant will be an inspiring and motivating individual that can build positive working relationships with children and young people.
As a Pastoral Lead you will support children with their social, emotional and mental health needs and lead on positive behaviour strategies. You will be creative and have high expectations of pupils outcomes and be dynamic and proactive with your approach to supporting students personal development.
It is desirable for the candidate to have the following qualities

* Can form positive relationships with children and young people.
It is desirable, but not essential for the successful candidate to have experience of working within SEMH or SEND provision.
Duties include :
* To set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils including the careful presentation of work and the care of books and equipment.
* To support pupils with their learning under the direction of teachers and management.
* To support teachers with any administrative tasks.
* To promote good progress and outcomes by pupils.
* Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge.
* Prepare and present displays.
* To cover lessons in the absence of teachers
* To lead on a non core subject within the school
* To facilitate interventions 1:1 or in groups
* Take responsibility for pupils on visits, trips and out of school activities as required.
* Record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of pupils.
* Support pupils to develop their skills of independence, resilience and confidence.
* Support the use of ICT in the curriculum.
* Administer first aid and/or medication (once trained).
* To participate in curriculum and management planning meetings, meetings with colleagues, parents and other agencies.
* Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school.
* Work with others on curriculum and pupil development to secure improved outcomes.
* Promote the safety and wellbeing of pupils.
* Manage behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment.
* Ensure that safe working practices are adopted in order to maintain a safe working environment for employees and pupils.
