CREM Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with a local food manufacturing business to source a Health & Safety Manager for a 12-month Maternity Cover.
Reporting directly to the Site General Manager, you will quickly become an integral part of the leadership team onsite, building relationships and working closely with the QA Manager, Engineering Manager, and Production Manager, in addition to being involved with group-wide strategic projects.
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety Manager to oversee and enhance our workplace safety protocols. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying potential hazards and implementing effective solutions both within the BAU operation and future projects.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement comprehensive safety policies and procedures in compliance with local regulations.
2. Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
3. Lead incident investigations, performing root cause analysis to determine underlying issues and prevent future occurrences.
4. Provide training and support to employees on safety practices.
5. Prepare detailed reports on safety performance, incidents, and compliance for management review.
6. Collaborate with various departments to promote a culture of safety throughout the organisation.
7. Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes related to workplace safety.
Qualifications:
1. Proven experience (c. 5 years) in a safety management role or similar position within a regulated industrial or manufacturing environment (preferably food production).
2. Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, standards, and practices.
3. Excellent report writing skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.
4. IOSH / NEBOSH qualifications.
5. Strong analytical skills with experience in conducting root cause analysis.
6. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating strong leadership capabilities.
7. Exceptional organisational skills with attention to detail in all aspects of work.
