We have FOUR new opportunities to join LCC as a Highways Maintenance Technician. Our Highways Maintenance Technician’s assist the multi-functional teams in the delivery of carriageway patching works, surfacing works, footway works, drainage works, cyclic maintenance, traffic regulation orders, surface treatments and cyclical maintenance works across the County.
About The Role
The Technician posts involve assisting with site surveys, design works, producing works order packs for contractors, site supervision and audits, updating inventory data, engagement with members of the public and dealing with transactions and complaints.
A typical week would see you having a team day each week in one of the local offices where we catch up on scheme progress and managers updates. You may then have a day on site with our contractor’s team assessing proposed and ongoing works, a day measuring proposed future works, and two days working from home completing scheme design data. Even when you're not in the office, you'll stay connected with your team throughout the day via email and Microsoft Teams. If you prefer working in the office, you can use our desk booking system to collaborate with other team members in person each day.
You will be guided by a dedicated manager who is focused on creating a personalised highway maintenance training program for you. Your ongoing development is a priority for us because we want to help you reach your full potential within LCC and advance through our available levels. You will benefit from both internal and external training, including attending college, with our full support in obtaining formal qualifications, all of which we will cover financially.
We understand that everyone’s needs are different, and we’re committed to helping you find the best balance to achieve your agreed-upon goals. We monitor individual workloads and progress to ensure you maintain a healthy work-life balance. During your regular one-on-one sessions, you’ll have the opportunity to openly discuss your progress, accomplishments, and areas for growth, and to plan your next steps. We’ll also recognise and celebrate your achievements, so get ready to shine and receive the praise you deserve.
We have a flexible approach to working patterns and base each individual at the office located closest to your home to avoid unnecessary traveling. So you will need a valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle to enable you to be mobile across the County.

This demonstrates our strong commitment to helping individuals like you learn, grow, and develop their careers with LCC.
