Senior Mechanical Project Engineer role:
• As a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, construction, commissioning, and handover of projects.
• You will focus on delivering projects efficiently, innovatively, and safely, while ensuring customer satisfaction.
Senior Mechanical Project Engineer responsibilities:
• Contribute to, manage, and update construction programs to ensure key milestones are achieved.
• Evaluate tender proposals, conduct cost-benefit analyses, and make informed recommendations for award.
• Facilitate collaboration between engineering and supply chain partners and oversee the daily operations of the site management team.
• Review consolidated invoices for accuracy and completeness prior to authorising payment.
• Oversee the risk register, provide regular updates, and support Project Managers in managing risk-related issues.
• Attend and contribute to relevant meetings, including health and safety, progress, employee forums, and coordination meetings.
• Prepare pre-start packages and upload relevant data to systems.
• Work with the Project Quantity Surveyor to manage project finances, report cost variations, and develop mitigation strategies.
• Lead design liaison meetings.

Senior Mechanical Project Engineer requirements:
• Project Management experience
• Experience with NEC3 contracts
• Construction-related degree or equivalent
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations, including CDM 2015
• Proven track record of delivering engineering projects
• Delivery-focused with experience in setting and monitoring targets
• Chartered or nearing chartered status with a respected professional body (desirable)
• Water industry experience (desirable)
• Experience with Primavera P6 (desirable)
• APMP or equivalent certification (desirable)
• Technical competencies: contract management, governance, budgeting and cost control, risk, opportunities and issue management, project planning (schedule), digital delivery, procurement (negotiations and management), solutions development (pre- construction / design development), stakeholder and conflict management, resource management, change management, quality management.
• Behavioural competencies: communication, collaboration, client focus, goals-orientated, integrity, trust and respect, coaching and providing feedback and leadership
