Job summary An exciting and challenging opportunity has become available for a Band 5 Staff Nurse within the Pre-op Assessment Department. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring immediate care to the relevant patient group and will work within the pre-operative assessment and admission service. We are a busy department assessing all patients undergoing surgery, many with multiple co-morbidities. You will work closely with a wide MDT, including other hospitals and GP services to ensure a smooth, safe and positive journey for all our patients. We also support weekly Anaesthetic clinics, for complex patient assessment and planning. You will be able to provide initial direct patient care. You will be expected to manage your own caseload of patients and will work within a 'buddy' system with a senior colleague to ensure patients are fully optimized and fit for surgery, whilst high standards of quality of care are delivered and maintained. You will work autonomously and be a team player whoworks flexibly in order to deliver the highest quality care to our patients. You will be enthusiastic, innovative with excellent communications skills along with a willingness to contribute to the improvement and development of services within pre op. We provide this service Monday to Sunday which also includes late night clinics. An Enhanced DBS with barred lists for both Adults and Children is required for this post.
