Job Title: Autism Care Assistant for a teenage boy
Location: Ashington - NE63
Hours: Part-Time, 3 hours per week @ £13.74/hr
Job Overview:
To provide support for a 16-year-old young man with a diagnosis of ADHD, ADD, and a learning disability. The purpose of your role will be to enable him to socialise, take part in different activities, and have time away from his family to give them a break from their caring role. You will mostly support him out in the community.
This young man is friendly and loves to talk and be sociable. We are looking for someone enthusiastic and proactive in their work. You will support him with activities such as going to the shops, eating at McDonald's, going to the cinema, and visiting arcades. You should be prepared to be flexible, as each day will be different depending on his preferences.
Main Duties:
1. Support with enabling independence and providing a break for the parent.
2. Assist with taking part in activities and pursuing hobbies and interests.
3. Ensure safety when out and about.
Person Specification:
* Ideally have experience working as a support worker with children or adults.
* Have a positive understanding towards people with disabilities.
* Have a genuine interest in working within social care.
* Have a high degree of initiative.
* Be punctual and reliable.
* Be flexible.
* Have a happy, positive, and caring nature.
* Respect confidentiality.
* Car driver preferable and must have business insurance.
Additional Information:
An Enhanced DBS Check is required, cost to be met by the employer. Rate of Pay: £13.74 per hour. Holidays are 5.6 weeks per year, pro-rata.
Hours Breakdown: 3 hours per week during school holidays, 5 hours per week during term time. Hours will be discussed further at interview.
