Assistant Finance Manager
Salary: £43k-£45,963k per annum
Working Hours: Monday – Thursday 8am–4:30pm / Friday 8am–1pm
Location: Wrexham
Our client, based in Wrexham, is looking for an Assistant Finance Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. As part of a supportive work environment, you will work with key stakeholders to prepare financial reports for senior management and head office. You will play a crucial role in supporting the wider business to achieve its objectives.
Performance Objectives
1. Preparation of financial statements with expertise in preparing income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
2. Conducting detailed financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
3. Identifying and explaining variances between actual and budgeted figures.
4. Developing and presenting half yearly budgets and long-term financial forecasts.
5. Creating financial models to simulate different business scenarios.
6. Implementing measures to control costs and improve efficiency.
7. Establishing and maintaining robust internal control systems.
8. Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and standards.
9. Identifying and mitigating financial risks.
10. Ensure accurate preparation and timely submission of VAT returns to the relevant tax authorities.
11. Maintain compliance with VAT regulations and keep up to date with changes in tax laws.
12. Reconcile VAT accounts and resolve any discrepancies.
13. Provide advice on VAT-related matters to other departments within the organisation.
14. Manage and prepare necessary documentation for customs declarations.
15. Ensure compliance with customs regulations and procedures.
16. Monitor and manage customs duty costs to optimize financial performance.
17. Work closely with customs brokers and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth import/export processes.
18. Assist the finance manager with aligning financial planning with the company’s strategic goals.
19. Support the department manager with developing and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure financial performance.
20. Maintaining the fixed asset register and internal audit of assets.
21. Maintaining department schedule and completing month end closing process.
22. Supervision of the department’s Costing section.
23. Audit planning and liaising with external auditors.
Person Specification
1. Strong Excel skills - ability to manipulate and summarise data.
2. Experience of Customs and International Trade.
3. At least 2 years of relevant experience.
4. Experience of VAT returns and Customs Duty.
5. Experience of manufacturing environment.
6. Financial Management, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
7. Accounting experience in general ledger and taxation regulations.
8. Software Proficiency of ERP Systems.
9. Knowledge of financial regulations.
10. Experience in establishing and maintaining internal control systems to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
11. Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data and provide insights for decision-making.
12. Ability to identify financial issues and develop effective solutions.
13. Experience in leading, managing, and training financial teams.
14. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to liaise with stakeholders, including auditors and regulatory bodies.
15. Degree in or working towards Finance, Accounting, or a related field would be desirable.
16. Professional certification in CIMA or ACCA would be desirable.
