As a Researcher, you will support the challenges facing Hampshire and IOW for our purpose of making ‘You, Your Family, and Our Communities Safer’. Policing challenges are constant and ever-evolving, and Hampshire continues to strengthen the trust of all our communities through fair, thorough, transparent, and ethical policing.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary are recruiting for a researcher within our Corporate Analysis team. You will work on both quantitative and qualitative research and policing topics. You will be involved in a range of work across all areas of policing from crime affecting Hampshire’s streets, insights into our organisation, understanding how we police our communities ethically and effectively, as well as demand on our resources. This role involves researching, identifying, collecting, assessing, and interpreting a range of information sources to deliver valuable and influential research to tackle threat, risk, and harm.
Flexibility and creativity in your thinking are key, as is a keen interest in data and taking ownership to develop and learn a variety of new topics. You will be part of a multi-faceted team, requiring good collaboration and negotiation skills, plus a talent for communicating clearly and concisely.

About the Role
Your role will be critical in helping Hampshire Constabulary with their purpose of making 'You, Your Family and Our Communities Safer.' You will identify, gather, evaluate, and disseminate information to support problem-solving on some of the challenges the Force faces.
Key Accountabilities include but are not limited to:
1. Collaborate with customers to identify and assist problem-solving, identifying appropriate and relevant data sources for the task at hand.
2. Research, collate, evaluate, and disseminate information from a wide range of open and closed information sources in relation to problems, patterns, trends, and series to support analysis.
3. Produce, evaluate, and take responsibility for creating accurate, high-quality, and easy-to-use reports and contribute to products produced by analysts.
4. Liaise with and work in partnership with other organisations to gather and research information.
5. Maintain knowledge of the current products and Force priorities.
6. Prepare data, charts, maps, etc., to support investigations and operations (for example, major Force events) as required.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Educated to QCF Level 2 (5 passes to include English language and Maths) OR work experience deemed to have brought the postholder to a comparable level.
2. Experience of researching and collating data.
3. Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to produce accurate and timely reports.
4. Demonstrate a basic understanding of research processes and techniques.
5. Ability to use own initiative and possess good time management skills.
6. Proven experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
