We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Librarian (Sc6) to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will play a crucial part in managing and enhancing our library services while ensuring that our resources are accessible and valuable to our diverse community of users. As a Librarian, you will be responsible for curating a wide range of informational materials, fostering a love of reading, and providing outstanding support to patrons. You will actively engage with the public to promote library programs, workshops, and events, tailoring strategies to meet the needs of various user groups. Your expertise in information retrieval will enable you to assist patrons in navigating our collections, whether they be digital or physical, ensuring they have the support needed to fulfill their informational and recreational needs. Furthermore, you will collaborate with educational staff to integrate library resources into the curriculum, enhancing the learning experience for students. Your role will also include the evaluation of library services and the implementation of innovative solutions to improve access and usability, ultimately ensuring the library serves as a cornerstone of knowledge in our community.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement library programs and services that meet the needs of the community.
Assist patrons with information retrieval, research inquiries, and resource navigation.
Curate and manage library collections, including selecting, acquiring, and cataloging materials.
Collaborate with educators to integrate library resources into the curriculum and promote literacy initiatives.
Organize workshops, events, and activities that encourage community engagement and foster a love for reading.
Evaluate library services and programs, providing recommendations for improvements and enhancements.
Maintain an organized and welcoming library environment to enhance user experience.
Requirements
Master's degree in Library Science or Information Science from an accredited institution.
Strong understanding of library systems, cataloging, and information technology.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with patrons of all ages.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in developing and implementing library programs and outreach initiatives.
Proficient in utilizing digital resources and databases for research and information retrieval.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Hours Per Week: 37.00
Start Time: 09:00
End Time: 17:00
Pay Per Hour: £19.05
Location: Islington, North London
